The Avalanche have locked up Erik Johnson through the 2022-23 season, signing the defenseman to a seven-year contract extension Tuesday.

The deal carries a $6 million average annual value, a source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

Johnson scored a career-high 12 goals last season before missing the final 34 games with a knee injury. 

Defenseman Michal Rozsival and the Blackhawks agreed to a one-year deal Saturday, according to an ESPN.com report.

Rozsival will carry a $600,000 cap hit and can earn up to $200,000 in bonuses for games played.

The 37-year-old Rozsival played the past three seasons for the Blackhawks and came into their training camp on a professional tryout agreement. He had one goal and 12 assists over 65 games last season.

The Islanders agreed to a one-year deal with right wing Steve Bernier on Thursday, according to an ESPN.com report.

Bernier, 30, matched his career high with 32 points for the Devils last season, tying for second on the team with 16 goals.

The Devils have signed defenseman David Schiemko to a one-year contract for $625,000.

Devils executive vice president and GM Ray Shero announced the signing of the free agent on Thursday.

Schlemko had a goal and three assists in 44 NHL games with Arizona, Dallas and Calgary last season. Tason.

The Sabres have added veteran depth to their defense by signing free agent Cody Franson to a two-year contract, according to an ESPN.com report on Thursday.

The deal is worth around $6.6 million, a source close to Franson said.

Last year, Franson had a career-best 36 points (seven goals, 29 assists) in 78 games split between Nashville and Toronto.

The Blackhawks and forward Joakim Nordstrom agreed to a one-year contract on Wednesday, according to an ESPN.com report.

Nordstrom was a restricted free agent after last season. He had three assists and averaged 10:58 of ice time in 38 regular-season games for the Blackhawks last season.
